Saudi Arabia-based bank Alinma has acquired naming rights to Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City, which will be a host venue during the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Alinma agreed the deal with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport. The deal will run until 2029 and officially rebrands the venue as Alinma Stadium.

Alinma said the deal will tie in with the bank’s commitment to support Saudi Vision 2030. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The Ministry of Sport noted that a multi-step process was carried out to find a naming-rights sponsor for the stadium. Companies submitted their applications, with the Ministry of Sport then selecting a list of applicants who submitted technical and financial proposals.

King Abdullah Sports City has a capacity of around 60,000. Last month, the stadium was announced as a host venue for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The stadium will also be one of 15 venues used during the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. It is one of just four existing stadiums on the venue list, with the remaining 11 to be built from scratch.

King Abdullah Sports City opened in 2014 and hosted matches during the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. The venue also hosts tennis’ Next Gen ATP Finals, and has staged WWE and boxing events in the past.
