The Portland Trail Blazers NBA team has partnered with Shift4, an integrated payments and commerce technology company.

Shift4’s payment technology will be integrated into transactions at Moda Center. It will power point-of-sale concessions transactions, including frictionless grab-and-go stands to ensure a faster and more seamless purchasing experience for guests.

The agreement also covers the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Trail Blazers’ former home.

The United Soccer League (USL) has announced Extreme Networks as its official Wi-Fi solutions and analytics supplier.

The deal will enable USL teams to deliver more seamless fan experiences, gain actionable insights and streamline operations on match days. Clubs will utilise AP5050 and AP5020 access points, which are tailored for dense environments and can support increasing demands for in-seat ordering, social sharing and streaming.

Spanish LaLiga club Sevilla has claimed a first for a sports entity after it was invited to join the AI Alliance, an international community that promotes the responsible, ethical and collaborative development of artificial intelligence.

The alliance was co-founded by IBM and Meta and lists Intel, AMD, Oracle and Sony among its more than 150 member organisations. Sevilla is the fourth Spanish entity to join the AI Alliance.

Sevilla has incorporated AI into its ticketing, sponsorship and Fan 360 tools, with a special emphasis on attendance prediction solutions, which have had a major impact on the management of the secondary ticketing market.

Wavelight, a pacing and spectator engagement technology company, is set to be deployed at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands this week.

The technology consists of a series of LED lights installed along the inside of the athletics track. It was initially conceived as a tool to assist athletes with pacing in training and competition, but has evolved into a system to enhance the fan experience.

At this week’s Championships, it will be used to highlight key moments in the programme, such as the introduction of star athletes and medal ceremonies. Wavelight will also serve as a guide light in the 1500m and 3000m heats, while for the finals it will display European, world and championship records when an athlete is within five metres of surpassing one.
