Audiovisual systems manufacturer Daktronics has teamed up with Quadra Technologies to deliver six LED video displays at three stadiums for the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The agreement covers National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which were used during the recent Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

All the displays feature 10-millimetre pixel spacings, with the screens spanning over 850 square metres across the three stadiums. The displays are capable of variable content zoning, while each stadium also received a Daktronics Show Control system.

Portuguese Primeira Liga club FC Porto has trialled Touch2See technology at the Estádio do Dragão as part of plans to enhance the experience for fans who are blind or visually impaired.

Fans can use a football pitch-shaped tablet to follow the match in real time via 5G technology, with a small ball moving around the screen as the ball moves in real time on the pitch.

FC Porto has previously introduced audio description technology for fans who are blind or visually impaired. The club has also added an INZONE sensory room for fans who have difficulty processing sensory information.

Elsewhere in Portugal, SC Braga has announced plans to introduce 5G technology at its new women’s stadium, courtesy of telecommunications company NOS.

NOS’s 5G technology is currently being installed at the stadium. It aims to provide around 2,500 fans with uninterrupted smartphone connections during games and will extend to restaurants, shops and media zones at the ground.

Arena Castelão, which is located in the Brazilian city of Fortaleza, has rolled out facial recognition technology courtesy of Imply.

The technology uses sophisticated algorithms to map and validate hundreds of facial points, ensuring a 99.9% accuracy rate in less than a second. The system will be integrated with football clubs Fortaleza and Ceara, allowing fans’ facial biometrics to be used online when buying tickets.

The system will enable fans to enter the stadium without a physical card or ticket.
