FC Dallas has appointed Moss Construction to deliver the Major League Soccer (MLS) club’s $182m (£140.7m/€168.1m) redevelopment project for Toyota Stadium.
The project, first unveiled in September, is being carried out in phases, with work on the stadium’s east side now underway. FC Dallas and Moss are due to host a joint groundbreaking event on March 26.
“We are thrilled to be working with Moss on the phased renovation of Toyota Stadium, a project that underscores our dedication to providing an unparalleled experience for our fans,” said FC Dallas president, Dan Hunt.
“Each phase of the renovation has been meticulously planned to ensure minimal disruption to our events while delivering state-of-the-art facilities. We are confident that Moss brings deep sports facility expertise and resources necessary to deliver a future-focused stadium that our fans, players, and community will be proud of.”
The project was enabled back in September after Frisco City Council approved a public-private partnership with FC Dallas that aims to restore Toyota Stadium to being one of the premier venues in MLS.
Toyota Stadium is the third-oldest soccer-specific venue in the League, with renovation highlights including three new clubs, renovated north, east and west entrances, and an architecturally distinctive roof structure that will help provide shade for guests throughout the venue.
Other upgrades include expanded seating capacity, from 19,096 to approximately 22,500 seats, new suite levels, increased concessions and restroom locations, and the largest video board in an MLS soccer-specific venue.
“We are honoured to have been awarded the Toyota Stadium renovation project,” said senior vice-president at Moss Construction, Jim Cuddihee. “This achievement is a testament to our team’s expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional results.
“We look forward to enhancing the guest experience and modernising a stadium that will serve as a premier sports and entertainment venue for years to come.”
FC Dallas will continue hosting MLS matches at Toyota Stadium throughout the renovation. By summer 2026, the east side is expected to reopen as work shifts to the west side. The full renovation is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028.
The club, in partnership with Dallas-based commercial real estate firm Cawley Partners, last month announced plans for a multi-phase office development on the west side of Toyota Stadium. Designed by Gensler, the project will include multiple Class A office buildings and ultimately deliver more than one million square feet of premium office space.
