The Green Bay Packers NFL team has announced a new multi-year partnership with Verizon.
The deal is designed to enhance the mobile phone service in and around Lambeau Field. Verizon will serve as the official 5G mobile partner of the Packers.
As part of the agreement, a 6,000-square-foot gathering space on the upper concourse of the stadium will be rebranded as the Verizon Loft. The space includes a full bar and Verizon charging stations.
Warwickshire County Cricket Club has partnered with R;pple Online Safety to deploy its crisis intervention tool on more than 100 staff laptops and through Edgbaston’s Wi-Fi connectivity.
The software will be able to intercept searches relating to self-harm or suicide. When a user searches for harmful content, R;pple will discreetly intervene and guide them through a breathing exercise and signposting to free mental health support and services.
Warwickshire is the first county club in England and Wales to adopt the technology on both laptops and Wi-Fi.
LG Electronics USA has agreed a deal to become the official TV partner of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
The deal will leverage LG’s commercial and consumer display technologies to enhance the fan experience at Fenway Park. The deal was brokered by ANC, which recently upgraded Fenway Park’s entire digital display network using LG DVLEDs, including the main videoboard in centre field.
As well as LED digital signage, the multi-year deal will enable future LG product integrations, including the placement of LG TVs in premium areas of Fenway Park.
Championship football club Sheffield Wednesday has launched a new EBar self-service drinks unit at Hillsborough.
The unit launched for Saturday’s home match against Hull City, with stations located in the South Stand, Kop and North Stand. The automated EBar provides fans with a quicker, contactless way to buy a drink without queueing. The technology will remain in place for the remainder of the season on a trial basis.
Fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers has also added four self-service screens at Ewood Park.
The screens are located in the Blackburn End of the stadium. Fans are able to pre-order drinks for half-time by using the screens before the game.
Vodafone India has expanded its 5G services to major cricket stadiums in 11 cities across the country.
The company’s 5G technology will now be available at Wankhede Stadium, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dr. Y.S.R ACA-VDCA Stadium, Eden Gardens, Ekana Stadium, M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium, Namo Stadium, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium and Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
The technology has been rolled out to coincide with the start of the Indian Premier League season.
Financial technology specialist Sokin has agreed a deal to become the official global payments partner of Excel London.
The deal will see Sokin enhance global payments at Excel, which is soon to be Europe’s largest fully integrated events venue. Online payments to the venue will also be powered by Sokin’s ecommerce gateway.
Collegiate sports marketing company Learfield has partnered with SportsBug to make audio broadcasts of games available in stadiums and arenas.
Learfield and SportsBug will deliver play-by-play radio streaming broadcasts in real time with no delay. Fans will be able to access the commentary for free through the Varsity Network app.
