The National Hockey League (NHL) has furthered its growing attendance trend, with the 2024-25 regular season breaking the 23-million mark for the first time.
Last week’s seven game finale pushed the total attendance to 23,014,458 across 1,312 games. The record figure represents a 96.9% arena capacity and beats the 22,873,142 attendance record from last season.
This marks the third consecutive regular season the NHL has set a total attendance record, following all-time marks established in 2022-23 (22,436,532) and 2023-24. Regular season games were played across 36 arenas: the 32 NHL home venues plus Winter Classic host Wrigley Field in Chicago; Stadium Series venue Ohio Stadium in Columbus; and Global Series sites O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia and Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland.
The Montreal Canadiens led the total club attendance, with sellout crowds of 21,105 filling Bell Centre for each of the team’s 41 home dates – totalling 865,305. For more on this story, check out our sister website, TheTicketingBusiness.com.
