Rugby league club St. Helens is planning to open a new outdoor live events venue located on the perimeter of its Totally Wicked Stadium.
The venue, named Halo, is set to open this summer with a capacity for 7,000 people that is designed to stage major music acts, local talent showcases, festivals, and more.
The St Helens Gala Fest is due to be the first event staged at Halo on August 30 featuring six tribute acts playing songs from the likes of Taylor Swift, Coldplay, and Oasis.
Access to events at the venue will be through the main turnstiles in the west end of the stadium, with the Halo stage located between the North and West Stands.

“The venue makes use of the food and drink kiosk and restroom facilities of the stadium’s extensive concourses, as well being able to host external catering units and other outdoor facilities within its boundaries,” read a club statement.
“The Totally Wicked Stadium itself, including the pitch area, will continue to host larger live music events such as the Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott and The Who concerts, held in recent times.
“The name of the HALO is derived from the link to the Saints, who of course play in the Totally Wicked Stadium, and the reference to its position located around the stadium perimeter.
“This is the first major foray by the Club into utilising the current space around the stadium for additional events, which the Club hopes will be developed further in the near future to include matchday activity within the HALO footprint.”
The Totally Wicked Stadium was built in 2011 at a cost of £25m ($33.2m/€29.3m) and has a capacity of 18,000.
It is home to St Helens and Liverpool FC Women, who are playing at the ground for the first season after signing a 10-year deal.
