Wrexham AFC is set to go on a pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand, playing three games in July.
The Welsh club is due to take on Melbourne Victory on July 11 at the 53,000-seat Marvel Stadium before facing Sydney FC at the 42,500-capacity Allianz Stadium four days later.
The Wrexham Down Under Tour will then conclude at New Zealand’s 34,500-seat Sky Stadium with a match against Wellington Phoenix on July 19.
The tour follows Wrexham’s promotion from League One to the Championship, with the latter’s 2025-26 season set to begin on August 8.
Wrexham has toured the United States and Canada in the previous two summers but the new destinations have been selected as club officials see it as a prime opportunity to further develop an international audience.
“Bringing Wrexham AFC to Australia and New Zealand for three exciting matches against top A-League sides is truly a one-of-a-kind event,” said Rachael Carroll, managing director of TEG Sport, which is promoting the tour.
“This tour is more than just football – it’s a celebration of global sporting culture, entertainment, and fan connection.
“Whether you’re a die-hard football supporter or just love a great story, these matches promise unforgettable moments and fun for everyone.”
Unlike last year’s tour where the club’s women’s team also played, this time it will only be the men’s team that travels.
A reason why Wrexham is not returning to North America is the new and expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the US.
The month-long competition concludes on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and features some of the biggest clubs in the world.
It was thought that competing with such a tournament for viewership would have been too difficult.
