Delaware North will roll out cashless services at a number of its venues through an agreement with global payments technology company InComm Payments, while Appetize has added four US sports properties to its partnership portfolio.

As part of the agreement, InComm Payments will implement its cashless payment solution at select sports venues where Delaware North operates food and retail services. Delaware North currently operates in more than 25 major professional sports venues in the US through its Sport Service division.

InComm Payments’ solution enables fans to exchange cash for a network-branded gift card at a venue’s guest service office and other locations. Gift cards have no purchase fees and can be used to buy food, merchandise and other goods, either inside or outside the venue.

At stadiums, fans will be able to load between $5 (£3.64/€4.12) and $500 on the cards. Stadiums will set up conversion stations on game days and possibly non-game days for fans to use.

James Clayton, who oversees payment solutions for Delaware North, said: “We know our clients are looking for solutions to be able to go cashless while ensuring their patrons have an easy way to pay for food and merchandise.

“InComm Payments’ technology makes the cashless transition smooth for everyone, including our cash-preferred customers – particularly because the gift cards are open-loop. That means guests can simply take the card home and use any remaining funds however they please.”

Adam Brault, senior vice-president of financial services at InComm Payments, added: “We are excited that our recently launched solution will get traction with this partnership with Delaware North as stadiums and venues reopen to fans. A large portion of the consumer base is cash-preferred, and Delaware North was quick to adopt this convenient solution that will result in a seamless game day experience for these consumers.”

In other news, Appetize will serve as the official cloud POS provider for the NASCAR stock car-racing series and Major League Soccer team FC Cincinnati, as well as Moda Center (pictured) and FedExForum, the respective homes of NBA basketball franchises the Portland Trailblazers and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Through its partnership with NASCAR, Appetize will upgrade POS operations at the Daytona race track in Florida, with 11 other locations to follow in the coming months. NASCAR fans will be able to order through Appetize’s Interact Web platform, while staff will receive access to the company’s Connect management portal.

Appetize has partnered with FC Cincinnati ahead of the club’s move to West End Stadium, which is due to open in the spring. Appetize will upgrade the stadium’s operations with terminals, handhelds, kiosks and kitchen display systems, with FC Cincinnati to also offer mobile ordering.

FedExForum has partnered with Appetize to provide POS terminals, handhelds and self-service kiosks that will be deployed this year. Digital menu boards and kitchen display systems will also form part of the agreement, along with mobile ordering.

Moda Center will replace its legacy POS platform with Appetize technology. Appetize will provide POS terminals, handhelds, self-service kiosks and mobile ordering for additional cashless payment options.
