English Premier League football club Leicester City will this week reveal the initial plans for a proposed expansion of its King Power Stadium and launch a public consultation on the project.
Announced last month, the development would see the stadium’s capacity increased from 32,300 to 40,000, with the additional seats to be installed in the East Stand.
The wider project would also include the construction of a new multi-purpose event and entertainment arena, club megastore, 220-room hotel, club and commercial office space, a residential tower, and a new multi-storey car park.
Plans for the development project will be published on August 12 and remain online until September 2 as part of the public consultation.
The local community, nearby businesses, supporters and key stakeholders will be able to give their opinion on the proposals during this period.
“The unveiling of the plans will begin a period of public consultation, as well as giving the football club an opportunity to share its vision for significant enhancements to King Power Stadium and an evolution of areas that have potential to be of great benefit to the city of Leicester,” the club said in a statement.
King Power International, which owns the football club, has long spoke about its ambitions to enhance the team’s facilities and expand the stadium.
Legends International was appointed by Leicester in August 2019 to carry out market research that was intended to underpin plans for the proposed expansion of King Power Stadium.
