An international standard cricket stadium has been inaugurated in Hayatabad, a suburb of the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Hayatabad Cricket Stadium was opened yesterday (Thursday) by Mahmood Khan, Chief Minister of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It forms part of the wider Hayatabad Sports Complex, with the Pakistan Today newspaper reporting that the facility was completed in under one year, supervised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Nation added that the 10,000-seat stadium has a budget of PKR993m (£3.64/€4.13m/$4.39m), with PKR603.3m having been spent on the project to date.

Yesterday’s presentation also disclosed that a Memorandum of Understanding has been struck between the PCB and the Sports Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a view to Hayatabad Cricket Stadium becoming a venue for games in the domestic Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 competition, along with Pakistan international matches.
