A busy month for Asian project news began as Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) team Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters officially opened what many are touting as one of the best ballparks in the world – ES CON Field Hokkaido.

Work also commenced on Baseball Dream Park, a new stadium for KBO League club Hanwha Eagles that intends to become a “national landmark” for South Korea. Meanwhile, Sport Singapore teamed up with MKPL Architects and Populous to give the first glimpse at plans for Toa Payoh Integrated Development, a major community sports and entertainment precinct.

In the US, St. Louis City SC welcomed a sell-out crowd of 22,423 for its first-ever MLS match at the new CityPark stadium. FIFA confirmed a further expansion of the 2026 World Cup by reverting back to the four-team group stage format, creating further games for the tournament’s venues in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Cívitas Metropolitano, home of Spanish LaLiga football club Atlético de Madrid, was awarded hosting rights for the grand final of the reimagined World Rugby Sevens Series, now rebranded as SVNS, for the next three years.
