The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced that Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre-Mauroy will be the setting for the first staging of the Coupe de France final outside of Paris or its immediate environs.
The 50,100-seat home of Ligue 1 team Lille OSC will host the club showpiece on May 25 to conclude the 2023-24 edition of the Coupe de France.
Lille will become the first French provincial city to host the final since its inaugural edition in 1917-18. The game has taken place at the Stade de France since the venue opened in 1998, however renovation work in preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has meant it has this year become off limits for its two main tenants – the FFF and French Rugby Federation (FFR).
In May 2023, the FFR announced that Lille, along with stadiums in Marseille and Lyon, would host France’s home Six Nations matches this year.
Along with the Stade de France, the Coupe de France final has also notably been held at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Colombes on 39 occasions, and the Parc des Princes, home of Paris-Saint Germain on 33 occasions.
