As the Chief Executive Officer, reporting to FIFA’s Chief Tournaments & Events Officer and the Director of World Cups, you will be in charge of developing the objectives, plans, policies, budgets and operations of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 team. As entrusted by the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Strategy Board, you will oversee the consistent interpretation, implementation and achievement of tournament objectives. You will establish an organisational hierarchy and delegates authority to executives within the FWWC team.
You will be representing the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 vis-à-vis key stakeholders including national, regional and local governmental organisations, FIFA and its Commercial Affiliates. As a leader, you should be able to harness your team’s motivation and channel it towards staging a highly successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
Your role as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Team CEO includes the following responsibilities:
- Leading the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Team in planning and operations of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the host countries
- Taking financial and operational decisions as enabled by the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 governance model
- Acting as the spokesperson for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Team
- Interacting with government agency representatives and defining roles and responsibilities as part of the planning process
- Providing direction to all functional areas regarding development and execution of the scope, schedule and budget required to plan and organise the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
- Directly managing and supporting the COO (Australia) and the COO (New Zealand) and other members of the local entities’ leadership teams
- Representing the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Team at key meetings and events
- Attending meetings to present and/or recommend FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Team strategy, policies, budgets, and other matters requiring approval
Qualifications & experience
You should have at least 10 years’ leadership experience working in complex, international, high-growth sports events and have demonstrated success in management of large-scale projects (which are highly complex) within fixed deadlines and tight budget parameters. In addition, you should be adept at dealing with public matters (such as government interaction, fundraising, etc.), as well know and understand the local culture in Australia and New Zealand. You must also be either an Australia or New Zealand citizen.
This position requires a true leader with the ability to negotiate, cooperate and make decisions by applying critical problem-solving skills. As leader of a diverse team, it is important that you take an inclusive approach and are able to motivate others toward a common purpose. You must be able to delegate tasks appropriately while being transparent and assuming accountability for any decisions taken on your watch. A high degree of innovation, passion and vision is essential. The demands of the job mean you must be highly resilient and organised, as well as able to manage conflict and communicate clearly.
