Position Overview

The Director of Ticketing is an integral member of WAC’s Communications Department and a crucial liaison to the rest of the company, specifically the Leadership Team, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Box Office.  This position is instrumental in maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including direct reports, internal departments, Live Nation, Broadway and other ticketing agents. The Director   oversees and ensures the Ticketing Administration duties for Walton Arts Center and Walmart AMP.  Possible remote work opportunity.

Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Define, implement, and support sales practices and sales data collection & analysis for the organization
  • Develop and manage cross-departmental relationships and practices to ensure open communication and effective fulfillment of organizational goals
  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events, as requested
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates, fellow staff members from other departments, vendors, patrons, and tenants of leased spaces
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Seek out opportunities for personal and departmental development through training and contact with industry resources and other ticketing organizations

 

Team Leader

  • Manage team that oversees ticketing for organization, partner promoters, resident partners, and client rentals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including direct reports, internal departments, Live Nation, Broadway and other ticketing agents
  • Strategize, prioritize, and delegate projects to ticketing team
  • Identify problems and find solutions; help staff develop creative thinking and effective communication skills

Finance & Administration

  • Work with Finance and Box Office staff to develop and ensure accurate accounting procedures for ticket sales and box office activities
  • Track and report ticket sales daily
  • Provide leadership in development and communication of new ticketing policies and sales strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external patrons to manage all on sales and any subscription renewal process

Systems

  • Organizational expert and leader on Tessitura
  • Manage its use in the organization, including events creation, the on-going clean-up and maintenance of the ticket sales database, data analysis and the reporting process
  • Direct and support organizational use of patron management software, including training, report development and maximized utilization of database and features
  • Oversee and maintain relationship with various outside vendors such as WW&L and patron management software vendor to ensure that Walton Arts Center gets maximum benefits from contracts and services

Ticket Administration

  • Oversee the set-up of all events in the patron management system and maintain updates to pricing, on-sale dates, promotions, etc.
  • Work with Communications to develop and implement sales strategy and promotions
  • Keep updated on ticketing trends, technologies, policies across the industry
  • Work with Communications and Development to ensure that patron and donor statistics, contacts and relevant information are tracked and maintained through WAC’s patron management database
  • Administrates, negotiates, and coordinates applicable portions of all contracts and services between WAC and related presenters
  • Establishes, manages, and enhances relationships and services to WAC Resident Companies, Rental Clients, and their customers
  • Supervises event set-ups, reporting, and settlements as they relate to Ticketing or Admissions
  • Seeks to continually improve processes related to rental bookings, budgeting, and performance settlements
Client Rentals

Work with operations and programming departments to negotiate ticketing services agreements and set usage fees and policies

Minimum Work Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of professional ticketing and 2 years of management experience.  Strong working knowledge of Tessitura and non-profit management understanding preferred

Education, Training, Traits

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in the field, and /or appropriate transferable skills
  • Deep working knowledge of Tessitura
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office Tools
  • Ability to train software and procedures effectively in both individual and group settings
  • Willingness to adopt new project management tools and communication platforms as used by the company
  • Able to understand and learn new technologies easily
  • An on-going desire to learn and improve
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure in a changing and deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to provide leadership, prioritize, organize, motivate, problem solve, delegate, follow up, and communicate
