With 32 amazing bars and restaurants and 12 premium lounges and clubs – we’re going to be delivering an exceptional hospitality service for the people of Manchester and beyond. On the menu will be great food seasoned with world class service and all with a planet friendly vibe in the heart of our vibrant community.
Role Purpose
As we gear up to opening our doors in the next 12 months, we’re looking for an Executive Sous Chef to join the Food & Beverage Hospitality team to lead daily kitchen operations and maintaining operating budget. Exhibit managerial talents by personally performing tasks while leading the staff and managing all food related functions.

Roles and Responsibilities 
  • Build and lead a team of talented culinary professionals
  • Responsible for guiding and developing staff
  • Continually looking at ways to improve both the guest and employee experience, while maintaining the operating budget
  • Liaise directly with customers to create positive relationships and meet their individual needs and requirements in the hospitality suites
  • Understand actual/forecasting operating costs within budget
  • Supervise all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high-quality product is produced
  • Ensure all food production is carried out on time, to spec and in budget
  • Produces rotas and daily business briefings
  • Oversee all chefs/kitchen porters, supervising and coordinating activities, ensuring service is at a high level
  • Lead from the front and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Estimate daily production needs on a weekly basis and communicate production needs to kitchen personnel daily
  • Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions
  • Review and adjust systems and procedures in the kitchen to ensure their effectiveness
  • Develop, design, or create new menus and recipes based on standards or artistic contributions
  •  knowledge of high-quality food products, presentations, and flavour
  • Knowledge of and understanding of Safety Standards, ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Supervise kitchen shift operations and ensures compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures
  • First aid training and management of all first aid, accident reporting and upkeep of all first aid materials
  • Operate and maintain all department equipment and reports malfunctions
  • Support procedures for food & beverage portion and waste controls
  • To manage and maintain systems and procedures for all waste solutions directly related to the kitchen areas
  • Develop and implement environmentally friendly processes and procedures for food preparation, energy use and waste management
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
  • Ensure all production deadlines are met, e.g for live event days, or day to day functions
  • Lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making and demonstrate honesty/integrity
  • Deliver food experiences which blow our competition out of the water and last long in the memory of our fans
  • Deliver on pre-opening and mobilisation strategies for all culinary operations, ensuring Co-op Live is a destination of choice
  • Build successful relationships with all relevant venue heads of departments across Co-op Live and OVG Hospitality
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualification essential with Allergen Awareness training
  • COSHH Awareness training and knowledge of HACCP
  • Working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, safety standards, etc. pertaining to OVG Hospitality and venue services operations
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional, and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to make sound business/operations decisions quickly and under pressure
  • Able to understand English both verbally and written
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft office, procurement systems, timekeeping systems, kitchen operating systems and staff training applications
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Experience in planning and mobilising a large venue and new culinary team
  • Good level of organisational and project management skills
  • Continuously look for ways to improve, analyse feedback and use it to make operational decisions which improve menus and fan
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Previous experience of managing a team, building and developing a team and culture which is focused on delivering the very highest standards of customer service within a similar environment
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced environment, stadium or multi-concept venue preferred, dealing with high volume covers
  • The role will be a key managerial role for all concerts, sporting events and private hires
Desirable
  • Advanced Hygiene qualification
  • Knowledge of Manchester’s culture, people and F&B scene
