We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Project Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Group Project Manager you will be responsible to manage projects across the NEC Group venues from inception through to final account, ensuring cost effective delivery of contracts within planned programmes, on budget and to the required quality and standards.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of significant capital investment projects for long term maintenance and venue improvement programmes, as well as small works and other site projects
  • Responsible for individual project budgets under their control
  • To ensure compliance with statutory regulations and insurance requirements
  • To prepare specifications, tender documentation and evaluation in conjunction with the Procurement Team
  • Effectively manage a large varied portfolio of project works simultaneously
  • Management of contractors during project delivery
  • To help compile annual requirements for the Group venue refresh requirements
  • To act as or ensure the appointment of a planning supervisor for works undertaken under the Construction Design and Management Regulations
  • To ensure all project works comply with the Group Energy Policy and to all legal, statutory and local authority requirements
  • Read, understand, evaluate and write tenders
  • Manage own projects to completion including commissioning

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Preferably qualified to Degree level in engineering or building i.e. construction, or evidence of time served in similar related disciplines
  • Experience in a similar role with a proven track record for taking a customer focused proactive approach to project delivery
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • IT skills including AutoCAD is preferred, however training can be given
  • The ability to work as part of a small multi disciplinary team
  • Understanding of budgets, budget control
  • You’ll be highly organised and meticulous in planning
  • Able to deliver results under pressure, while responding constructively to new ideas and inputs.


  • Salary up to £44,000 depending on experience
