To support our Tournaments & Events Division, FIFA is looking to recruit a communicative and collaborative person as a Senior Pitch Management Manager.

 

Your duties
• Developing a pitch management strategy/concept for all events, with focus on the World Cup
• Working in conjunction with FIFA and hosting Country’s Turf Consultant and Turf Managers to prepare, implement and monitor weekly, monthly and annual maintenance schedules to ensure all ground staff deliver the required standard of playing surfaces and landscaping areas on a daily basis
• Ensuring that Pitch Management is fit for purpose, ready and integrated into the overall delivery of FIFA World Cups
• Ensuring compliance and review of the Health and Safety regulations in the area of responsibility

• Conducting staff inductions and producing and reviewing risk assessments and safe systems of work for the grounds department within the review date schedule
• Preparing and delivering reports to the Infrastructure group leader
• Ensuring all pitch operations carried out are uploaded to the FIFA data collection tool
• Cost effective management of all grounds’ activities to consistently achieve the recognised standards and availability to satisfy both FIFA and the Host Country to the expected standard and its end users (e.g. coaches, players) including but not limited to – playing surface preparation, chemical applications, management of soft/hard landscaping, irrigation systems, pitch renovations, equipment and plant room management
• Liaising with other pitch related stake holders as and when directed
• Daily / Weekly monitoring of all World Cup pitch operations in hosting Countries

Our requirements
• Proven track record of working for a club, member association or confederation in the capacity of a groundskeeper
• A minimum of 8-10 years as a Grounds Manager or Head Groundsman at Professional Football entities
• Recognised turf management qualifications
• Familiar with football pitch irrigation systems, extensive experience in managing cold and warm season grasses in football stadiums
• Experience in state of the art growing aids such as growing lights and vacuum and ventilation systems
• Experience managing several pitch projects simultaneously
• Capability of analysing a pitch and of providing recommendation to groundskeepers
• Strong knowledge of natural and artificial pitches as well as of stadium, marketing, TV and media operations
• Experience developing new strategies and concepts; ability to think outside the box
• Willingness to travel
• Fluency in business English; knowledge of additional languages is highly beneficial
