Uber in talks for naming rights to Tottenham stadium - report

Transportation network company Uber is in talks to take on naming rights to the future home stadium of English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur, according to football website Squawka.

The report claims that Tottenham has held discussions with Uber over a deal that would be worth more than £20m (€22.3m/$24.4m) per year.

Squawka said that it had obtained a photograph of a model of the facility, which would be known as the ‘Uber Stadium’ should an agreement be reached.

Reports last month suggested that Tottenham was seeking up to £400m in sponsorship revenue from a naming-rights partner for the ground, which is due to open in 2018.

Meanwhile, a report in The Sun newspaper has claimed that Tottenham is considering building an innovative glass tunnel feature at the new ground. Under the plans, supporters would be able to watch players walking to and from the pitch from an adjacent glass-walled restaurant.

The 61,000-capacity stadium is currently being built across the road from the club’s current ground, White Hart Lane.
