Sacramento Kings call on Xperiel to aid fan experience

NBA basketball franchise the Sacramento Kings has partnered with Xperiel, creator of the Real World Web (RWW) platform, to enhance fan engagement initiatives at Golden 1 Center.

The partnership will result in the launch of a new gaming platform, which will be integrated into Golden 1 Center’s recently-launched mobile application.

‘Call The Shot’ will be available to use for fans inside the arena, which the Kings moved into in October, as well as supporters from around the world. The platform will allow fans to make in-game predictions and collect points based on their wagers.

“Through technology, we’re using innovation to enhance the fan experience in new and dynamic ways,” Ryan Montoya, the Kings’ chief technology officer, said. “We want our fans to connect and feel integrated into the game. Xperiel is helping our fans experience Kings basketball in a whole new way.”

Xperiel chief executive Alex Hertel added: “Integrating Xperiel’s platform into the Kings Golden 1 Center app will allow the team to engage with its audiences in a more compelling and effective way. And we have activations coming soon that will essentially turn Golden 1 Center into an integrated digital playground, providing fans an even more personalised experience while at games. This is what we call the Real World Web.”

The Kings launched the new app in September ahead of the move to Golden 1 Center. The app also features up-to-date in-game statistics, multi-angle replays, live streams, daily news and player data.

The state-of-the-art Golden 1 Center is said to be the first professional sports facility to be powered completely by solar energy.
