Houston’s NRG Stadium has undergone a series of upgrades ahead of its hosting of this year’s Super Bowl, the showpiece end-of-season event of the NFL American football league.
According to local news outlet KHOU, work on the Texas venue has included the installation of new LED lights that have helped to reduce the venue’s energy usage by 60 per cent.
Other upgrades include the addition of portable power-charging kiosks, which will be available to fans free-of-charge, as well as solar panels above bridges and the Bud Light Plaza section of the venue.
Super Bowl LI will take place on February 5.
