Celtic unveils hotel plans

Scottish Premiership football club Celtic has announced plans to develop the area around Celtic Park, starting with the construction of a hotel and a museum.

The initial proposal submitted yesterday (Thursday) to Glasgow City Council is the first stage of the club’s masterplan to expand and promote the facility.

The hotel would be based on London Road, outside the main stand of Celtic Park and across the road from the Emirates Arena.

A retail store and a ticketing facility are also within the application submitted to the council.

“The application is part of Celtic’s long-standing master plan for the area,” the club stated. “A vision which aims to deliver benefits to the club and our supporters, and allow further regeneration of the east end of the city, something to which we are totally committed.”

“Celtic aims to be a world-class football club in everything it does,” the club continued. “We are pleased to have made significant investment in recent years to develop the stadium and public realm area for the benefit of our supporters.”
