Campeonato Brasileiro Série A football club Botafogo has opened a dedicated space at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos for kids’ parties and other events on match days.

Botafogo has teamed up with Companhia do Tomate to develop the Star Arena Kids space at the stadium. A pre-opening event was held on Saturday ahead of Botafogo’s match against Flamengo, and bookings can now be made for the next home fixture against Goiás on September 30.

The space is located in the lower-west section of the stadium and will have an initial capacity for 200 people. Botafogo has invested R$1m (£160,000/€188,000/$201,000) in the area, which will be open for two hours prior to kick-off and after the final whistle.

Star Arena Kids will have toys and video games for children. Those attending birthday parties will also be invited to walk on to the pitch with Botafogo players. The space will also be open on non-match days.

Thairo Arruda, chief executive of Botafogo, said: “It is with great pride that we present another new feature to the black and white fans. Star Arena Kids arrives with the aim of making our stadium an even more family-friendly environment and providing unforgettable experiences for our little fans.

“We also thank Companhia do Tomate for believing in and bringing the project to Nilton Santos. Without a doubt, it is another milestone for this special year.”

Earlier this year, Botafogo agreed a partnership with Soccer Hospitality to develop a new premium hospitality and entertainment space at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos.

The space, entitled FireZone, aims to provide modern entertainment with a variety of experiences, both during sports games and other events.
