Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital of Riyadh will host boxing’s ‘Day of Reckoning’ on December 23, with the event to feature two-time unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Joshua will face Otto Wallin as the pair close in on challenging for world title honours. The event will also feature Dmitry Bivol, Jai Opetaia, Joseph Parker, Deontay Wilder, Filip Hrgovic and Mark De Mori.

The event will form part of the Riyadh Season festival, which commenced on October 28 with a boxing match between Tyson Fury and mixed martial arts star Francis Ngannou.

Day of Reckoning will be the latest high-profile boxing event to take place in Saudi Arabia. Last month, Kingdom Arena was announced as the host of a fight between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, which is set to take place in February.

The Day of Reckoning event will mark Joshua’s third fight in Saudi Arabia after he defeated Andy Ruiz Jr in Diriyah in 2019 and lost to Usyk in Jeddah in 2022.

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, said: “The ‘Day of Reckoning’ fights constitute the highly anticipated event offered by Riyadh Season for boxing fans this year. It brings together a number of world boxing champions in groundbreaking bouts.”

Kingdom Arena has a capacity of 26,000 and is set to host football matches played by Riyadh-based Al Hilal from January.
