Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season festival will stage its first overseas sporting event later this year after plans were announced for a boxing event at BMO Stadium, home of Major League Soccer team Los Angeles FC.

The event will feature a world title clash between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov. The pair will battle it out for the WBA and WBO interim world super-welterweight title on August 3.

Visit Saudi, MDL Beast and Red Sea Global will sponsor the event, which will be promoted by Riyadh Season Card, Sela, League 1 and Matchroom Boxing in association with World of Boxing, TGB Promotions, Golden Boy, Goldstar, Queensberry, Salita Promotions and Warriors Boxing Promotions.

It will mark the first time a Riyadh Season event has taken place outside of Saudi Arabia. Several high-profile boxing matches have formed part of the festival in the past, with upcoming events set to include the 6 Kings Slam tennis tournament.

August’s event in Los Angeles will feature an undercard that includes Isaac Cruz v Jose Valenzuela, Andy Ruiz v Jarrell Miller, Tim Tsyzu v Vergil Ortiz Jr, David Morrell v Radivoje Kalajdzic, and Andy Cruz v Antonio Moran.

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the board of directors at Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, said: “We are delighted for Riyadh Season to host its first overseas event in Los Angeles and this fight in the United States is a special one to mark this moment.

“We want to give people around the world the opportunity to enjoy their own Riyadh Season experience and this is exactly what we hope to achieve by staging this and also future events around the world.”
