Rebecca Kane Burton has been appointed as executive vice-president of venue management at Oak View Group International.
In the newly created role, Kane Burton (pictured left) will spearhead OVG’s UK and European business development strategy, focusing on growing services at venues such as Wembley Stadium, Co-op Live and Murrayfield Stadium.
Kane Burton has served as interim general manager of Co-op Live since April, when Gary Roden resigned amid event postponements which delayed the arena’s opening. Kane Burton has overseen a successful opening season for Co-op Live, with 36 events taking place and over 900,000 tickets sold.
She has previously worked as chief executive of Sodexo Live! and LW Theatres, and as vice-president and general manager of The O2 in London.
Kane Burton will identify new business opportunities in arenas, stadiums and convention centres across Europe and will report jointly to Jessica Koravos, president of OVG International, and Chris Granger, president of OVG360.
Scottish Rugby has appointed Alex Williamson as its new chief executive.
Williamson (pictured centre) previously ran the Goodwood Estate and is a former chief executive of House of Fraser. He will start his new role in early 2025.
Williamson joins Scottish Rugby from private equity-owned education provider Inspiring Learning, where he has served as chief executive since 2019. He started his career with Ernst & Young and also spent time in music and media before holding senior management roles in travel, sports and retail.
Vincent Labrune has been re-elected as president of France’s Professional Football League (LFP) for a second four-year term.
Labrune received 85.7% of the vote to secure re-election ahead of challenger Cyril Linette, who previously worked as a sports director at French broadcaster Canal Plus.
Labrune was named LFP president in September 2020 ahead of Michel Denisot. Labrune’s first term was marred by the collapse of the LFP’s TV rights deal with Mediapro in December 2020 and the recent turbulent sales process for domestic media rights.
Scottish Premiership football club Rangers has announced that chairman John Bennett is stepping down with immediate effect due to health reasons.
Former director John Gilligan will temporarily fill the role of chairman until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Rangers announced the departure of former chief executive James Bisgrove back in May. The club said its board is undertaking a “robust process” with the help of professional advisors to fill the roles of chief executive and chairperson.
Dutch Eredivisie club Ajax has announced the departure of chief financial officer Susan Lenderink.
Lenderink (pictured right) will remain in her role until March to ensure a smooth transition. She joined Ajax in July 2019 and her contract had been due to run until June 2026.
In May, Ajax announced that Alex Kroes had stepped down as chief executive and chairman of the board, with chief commercial officer Menno Geelen stepping in as interim chief executive. Kroes was suspended by Ajax in April following allegations of insider trading.
