Major League Soccer team New York City is to become the first football club in North America to stage a Fifa tournament at its Yankee Stadium home ground.
The ‘NYCFC FIFA 17: Best in the City Challenge’ will take place before City’s game against Columbus Crew on October 23, with the competition set to feature online qualifiers that culminate in an offline ‘round of 16’ at the stadium.
Participants must play as New York City in all of their games, with finalists to win perks such as tickets to the Delta 360 Suite at Yankee Stadium, as well as meet-and-greet sessions with City players. The overall champion will win a customised Xbox One gaming console.
Players can register to compete for a week-long tournament that runs from today (Monday) to Friday, and a competition on Saturday this week. The free-to-enter contest is open to players 18 and over.
