Seahawks star backs Seattle stadium arena plans

Wilson

Russell Wilson, a quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks NFL American football franchise, has declared his support for an effort to bring a new NHL ice hockey and NBA basketball team to the city.

Wilson, who announced the news in a Twitter post, will now join forces with the Seattle Arena investment group, which last month unveiled plans to establish a new NBA franchise in Seattle, with the model including the construction of a new arena.

However, the project is still in the preliminary stages, with investors backing the initiative yet to reach an agreement with the city on the location for the facility, as well as how to fund the proposed development.

Seattle has been without an NBA team since the SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma in 2008 and change its name to ‘Thunder’. The indoor arena would also open up the possibility for an expansion franchise to join the NHL.
