Troy University to construct new American football facility

Troy

Alabama-based Troy University has announced that it is to commence work on a new American football facility for its athletics division.

The Veterans Memorial Stadium North End Zone Football Facility will cost $24m (€22.4m/£19.3m) and offer more than 70,000sq ft of space for student-athletes, staff and fans.

Student-athlete facilities will include a new locker room, athletic training facility, strength and conditioning centre, nutritional ‘fuelling station’, mud room with cool down plunge pool and a team lounge.

Staff will have access to offices and meeting rooms with state-of-the-art video technology, while fans will benefit from 402 new club seats, access to exclusive concessions and parking areas, as well as a 35 x 90ft video board that will be installed 30ft off the backline in the north end zone.

The project is scheduled to finish in spring of 2018, in time for the Troy Trojans American football team’s match against Boise State on September 1.
