Twickenham’s East Stand hospitality revamp given green light by planners

Planning permission has been granted to redevelop the East Stand of Twickenham, the home of England’s national rugby union team.

As part of the redevelopment, an additional 11,600 square metres of space will be created over six levels, enabling improved hospitality services to be offered within the stadium whilst not increasing the venue’s overall capacity.

The Rugby Football Union, the sport’s governing body in England, said that the new space would be used to cater for a range of visitors, with new bars and dining areas available, as well as private dining facilities.

There will also be new facilities created exclusively for existing England Rugby debenture-holders, who will have the option to customise packages to make the most of the new dining, entertaining and parking opportunities following the revamp.

“We’re delighted that the Planning Committee voted to support our plans to upgrade the East Stand at Twickenham Stadium and we welcomed additional feedback from Richmond Council at the planning meeting,” RFU chief executive Ian Ritchie said.

“We now look forward to progressing plans that will ensure that Twickenham Stadium continues to be a world-class facility and a facility that also brings benefit to the local community.”
