Avaya technology to aid fan experience during IIHF Junior Worlds

Technology company Avaya’s services will be called upon to aid the in-arena fan experience for spectators during the 2017 edition of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Junior Championship.

The tournament takes place in Canada from December 26 to January 5, with Toronto’s Air Canada Center and Montreal’s Bell Center to serve as host venues.

Avaya will sponsor the event and also provide wireless, fan engagement technology at Bell Centre, the home of the Montreal Canadiens NHL franchise.

A number of accommodations at the Bell Centre will be facilitated by Avaya Networking, with more than 500 wireless access points having been fitted to improve spectators’ connection on mobile devices.

Fans will be able to experience features such as ticketless entry, food ordering and delivery from their seats through a custom-built Canadiens app. Supporters will also be able to learn more about teams and players, view online stadium maps and purchase tickets through the app.
