Patriots’ success delays Gillette Stadium construction

The success of the New England Patriots NFL American football franchise this season has put pressure on Structures Unlimited to finish construction on Gillette Stadium in only four months, according to the Concord Monitor.

Construction had to wait until the final Patriots home game of the regular season had taken place. Then the delay continued as the team’s winning run led to further games – including the AFC Championship game.

The Patriots won the Super Bowl by beating the Atlanta Falcons in Houston on Sunday.

The Bow manufacturing company is contracted to build a 4,894-square-foot canopy and patio area on the 300 level of Gillette Stadium before the concert season kicks off with a U2 show on June 25.

“In the construction business, everyone’s goal is to start early, but this was just the opposite,” Mark McNichol, director of sales for Structures, said. “We were hoping for a late start because that meant the Patriots were going to the Super Bowl. There are a lot of Patriots fans here.”
