English League One football club Shrewsbury Town has named bottled water manufacturer Montgomery Waters as its new stadium sponsor.
Under the agreement, Shrewsbury’s ground will be known as Montgomery Waters Meadow for at least the next two seasons.
Montgomery Waters replaces car dealership Greenhous as the stadium’s sponsor. Greenhous had sponsored the 10,000-seat stadium since 2010.
Shrewsbury’s commercial manager, Richard Hill, said: “I am delighted that we are able to get Montgomery Waters on board. As a sports club set in the countryside, in an area of spectacular beauty, it seems a perfect pairing with a company that has strong environmental ethics and provides a product that is natural, healthy and sourced locally.”
Montgomery Waters’ commercial director, Andy McAdam, added: “We are so pleased that Shrewsbury Town will be able to offer our range of naturally sourced healthy hydration products within the stadium. We’re looking forward to working with Shrewsbury Town, and can’t wait for the season to start.”
The stadium opened in July 2007 and replaced Gay Meadow as Shrewsbury’s home ground.
Shrewsbury finished the 2016-17 season 18th in League One, the third tier of English football.
Montgomery Waters is situated on the Shropshire/Powys border, beneath a range of former volcanic hills in the village of Churchstoke, 25 miles from Shrewsbury.
