Abu Dhabi set for new sports stadium

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has agreed a partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to develop a new sports stadium in the town of Al Samha.

Details behind the new stadium were not disclosed in an official statement, but the Municipality said the initiative is intended to “bring happiness” to community members, provide a better living experience, promote the values of social responsibility and contribute to the overall sustainable development seen by Abu Dhabi. EGA will build the stadium.

HE Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, general manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said: “This agreement epitomises the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities – Abu Dhabi City Municipality to foster partnerships and cooperation with key institutions. It also comes in the context of activating the values of communal responsibility, utilising them in community service and development, and building infrastructure and entertainment facilities.

“The EGA is a flagship of development and community service as evidenced by the two parks it has already established in Samaha as part of its core values and objectives. It also reflects EGA’s commitment to social responsibility where such development projects are turned into reality to delight the community.”

Ali Al Zarouni, deputy executive director of production, technology development and transfer at Emirates Global Aluminium, added: “Our partnership with Abu Dhabi City Municipality is part of our efforts to fulfil our social responsibility by supporting local communities and neighbouring areas. We hope that such facilities would add up to the public services in Al Samha, improve the cityscape and promote a healthy lifestyle for the residents.”
