West Ham to ring in new year with enhanced stadium capacity

English Premier League football club West Ham United has today (Friday) announced that its London Stadium home will operate at an increased capacity of 60,000 from its opening game of 2019.

After reaching an initial agreement last month, the required safety certificate has now been granted and West Ham’s opening Premier League game of 2019, against Brighton and Hove Albion on January 2, will see 3,000 more home fans cheering on their team. This will mark a new club record for the biggest home attendance and number of season ticket holders in West Ham’s history.

Joint-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold said: “It is a wonderful feeling to know that more of our fans will be able to watch affordable Premier League football at London Stadium, and we look forward to the matchday atmosphere becoming even more magnificent in 2019.”

West Ham initially agreed the deal with stadium landlord E20, the first step towards London Stadium reaching its potential capacity of up to 66,000, which would make it the biggest club football venue in the capital.

The expanded capacity means that London Stadium will now welcome a total of 54,000 season ticket holders on a matchday, the highest in London, from the start of 2019.

In other news, West Ham has agreed a new partnership with Vanquish Technologies. Vanquish Tech is a value-added technology and managed service provider that offers technologies which they have combined to create a world-first infinitely-scalable hybrid cloud offering to deliver consumption-based infrastructure services across production, back-up, DR and archive.

Founded in 2011, Vanquish Tech’s goal is to become the leading technology partner within the sports and entertainment industry. It will serve as West Ham’s official technology partner. Using its experience working within sport and stadia, Vanquish will seek to help drive significant efficiencies and improvements across the club’s technology infrastructure – both internally and fan facing.

Additionally, West Ham will support Vanquish Technologies by offering unique marketing and experiential opportunities for clients and the company’s audience.
