Local company steps up as Morecambe stadium sponsor

Mobile phone recycling company Mazuma has acquired naming rights to the home stadium of League Two football club Morecambe.

The three-year deal officially renames the ground as Mazuma Stadium. The 6,400-seat venue had previously been known as the Globe Arena for 10 years through an agreement with Globe Construction.

Mazuma is located in the Lancashire town and has been in operation for over 15 years. The company buys and sells mobile phones, tablets, smart watches, laptops and games consoles.

The club’s commercial manager Martin Thomas said: “I am delighted to be working with Mazuma in what is going to be a very exciting partnership. As a club, we feel that they are a perfect sponsor for Morecambe FC. They are a large local employer with many of their employees being Morecambe fans and it’s a fantastic brand to be associated with.”

Suzanne Parker, head of marketing at Mazuma, added: “We are thrilled to be the new stadium sponsor. Our relationship with the club has progressed over the years and we look forward to it continuing it further with this new deal.”

The club finished the 2019-20 season 22nd in League Two.
