Italy’s Serie A to go back behind closed doors

Italy’s Serie A top tier football league will go behind closed doors once again from today (Monday) for at least a month following a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Italian government passed a decree that will see sports events going ahead without fan entry, eliminating the current rule allowing up to 1,000 spectators at stadiums for football games and other sports.

Serie A was finished without fans last season during the restart, though fans returned for the 2020-21 season in late September.
