The O2’s socially distanced gig pushed back until February

The first socially distanced live music event at The O2 in London has been postponed until February 27.

The event, featuring rock band Squeeze, was originally due to take place on December 5. The O2 planned on having 4,700 socially distanced spectators inside the arena but the logistical problems caused by the ongoing lockdown in England have led to the postponement.

Fans were able to purchase tickets in groups of two, three or four, with a one-way system to be implemented to ensure social distancing. A range of other planning and safety measures were planned but December has come too soon for the event to take place.

“Our arena is the beating heart of The O2 and we hugely miss the live experiences that we’re used to sharing with our fans,” Steve Sayer, vice-president and general manager of The O2, said. “It’s disappointing to have to delay this show but I would like to say how grateful we are for the support we’ve received from the industry, fans and our partners and we look forward to Squeeze performing in the arena next year.”
