Caesars Entertainment has entered into a multi-year partnership with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, with the deal to include the opening of a retail sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The deal names Caesars Sportsbook as an official sports betting partner of the Cavaliers, with Caesars Entertainment to become the team’s official casino partner.
The new sportsbook will be located on the street level inside the northwest atrium area at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The space will have betting windows for cash wagering and combine custom VIP and hospitality experiences for Caesars Rewards members, along with on-site activations throughout the year.
The venue will span around 10,355 square feet and will feature a full-service bar and VIP lounge, an extensive menu and wall-to-wall TVs. The cost of the improvements will be paid for entirely by the Cavaliers and Caesars.
The agreement also grants Caesars Sportsbook access to use of official Cavaliers logos and marks, broadcast and digital content across team properties, and TV-visible in-game signage.
Construction on the sportsbook will begin soon and the space is expected to be open by the end of 2022, subject to regulatory and other necessary approvals. Further details and renderings of the sportsbook will be announced at a later time.
Chris Holdren, co-president of Caesars Digital, said: “We’re ready to welcome Ohio sports fans into the Caesars Sportsbook empire, while also making history with our second sportsbook at an NBA arena.
“Building upon our already established roots with Scioto Downs in Columbus, we’re excited to announce our partnership with the Cavaliers at an exciting time in the franchise’s history.
“As we prepare to launch sports betting in Ohio later this year, this wide-ranging partnership enables us to connect with the Cavs’ passionate and highly engaged fan base. Caesars Sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will be a first-class venue providing an exciting atmosphere for sports betting and more.”
In May last year, William Hill, which is part of Caesars Entertainment, opened the first sports betting venue at a US professional sports facility with the launch of a sportsbook at Capital One Arena, home of the NBA’s Washington Wizards and NHL’s Washington Capitals.
Last month, Caesars Sportsbook signed a multi-year deal with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, with the agreement including a new premium club lounge space at Highmark Stadium.
Caesars Entertainment also holds naming rights to the home stadium of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, while Caesars Sportsbook has a separate partnership with the Indianapolis Colts.
