Catalan Football Federation presents plan for new sports city, stadium

The Catalan Football Federation (FCF) has presented plans for a new sports city that would be anchored by a 1,500-capacity stadium.

The district would be located in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, close to the Collserola Natural Park and a short distance from Barcelona-El Prat Airport.

The sports city would span more than 68,000 square metres and also include a new headquarters for the FCF, 11-a-side and seven-a-side football pitches, and a multi-sports hall for futsal and beach football.

The sports hall will include two indoor football pitches and a beach football pitch. The main indoor pitch will have a capacity of 300 and the beach soccer pitch will seat up to 200 fans.

The 1,500-capacity outdoor stadium would be capable of hosting matches and tournaments for Catalan national teams, as well as other professional clubs and international teams.

Other features of the sports city will include changing rooms, a gym, medical services and training facilities.

The FCF has provided more details of the sports city project after a ‘protocol of intentions’ was agreed in March with the Sant Feliu de Llobregat City Council.
