The New England Patriots NFL franchise has opened a new 22-storey, 360-degree observation deck at Gillette Stadium.
The Lighthouse at Gillette Stadium officially launched on Sunday and will be open to guests on a year-round basis. The Lighthouse forms part of a wider $250m (£206m/€238m) renovation project at Gillette Stadium, which was completed last month.
The observation deck provides panoramic views of the stadium and the surrounding area. The 218-foot structure will be open to fans of all ages and will be accessible by an elevator.
According to the Patriots, the structure is the tallest non-traditional lighthouse in the US. Admission is $5 for adults, with free entry for children aged 10 and under.
Gillette Stadium will also offer the observation deck and the top-level Lantern Room as options for hospitality clients looking to book a space for functions.
Jen Ferron, chief marketing officer at Kraft Sports + Entertainment, said: “The Lighthouse at Gillette Stadium was reimagined as part of the North End renovation to bring an iconic feature to the stadium and Patriot Place that families could enjoy year-round.
“It is a unique experience that will surprise everyone who visits. The lookout is much higher than you’d expect, and the views are spectacular.”
Patriots owner Robert Kraft last month hailed the completion of Gillette Stadium’s North End renovation project as transformational for the fan experience. The project also features the largest outdoor curved-radius videoboard at a sports venue in the country, the G-P Atrium, a new 50,000-square-foot function space overlooking the field and a reimagined Enel Plaza.
Other upgrades have been carried out, including the Ticketmaster entry canopy, a revamped Row of Honor, the Bud Light Celebration Beer Hall and the Pepsi Grab & Go space, while connectivity on the upper concourse has been improved. More restroom capacity, permanent bars and concession locations have also been installed.
