Costa Rican Liga FPD football team Club Sport Herediano has revealed designs for its new stadium, which is scheduled to open in the second half of 2024.

Back in October 2019, the club announced plans to build a new stadium that will offer double the capacity of its current home, the 8,000-seat Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero.

The final design of the stadium has now been approved, and the club has announced that the venue will also feature a 121-room hotel. To mark the opening of the new stadium next year, a range of events will be organised for fans and the local community.

“What we are definitively presenting is the most modern, accessible and environmentally sustainable sports and multi-use facility in Central America, it is the result of an enormous effort, where we are turning a dream into reality, and we hope to give the Heredians and the country a pioneering and innovative project, which will mark a ‘before and after’ point in our history,” said Jafet Soto, president of the Fuerza Herediana organisation.

The Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero has been out of use since the start of 2020. Herediano, which is based in the city of Heredia, has been playing at the Estadio Fonseca in nearby San José in the meantime.

When the stadium plans were announced in October, the club said it could have opted for a simple redevelopment of the Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero, but building a new stadium was the preferred option.
