The US-based Professional Fighters League (PFL) mixed martial arts promotion has announced that its upcoming PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions event will take place at the Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on February 24.

The pay-per-view event will form part of Riyadh Season and will be organised alongside Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. It will feature four co-main fights of current PFL champions vs current Bellator champions, as well as two match-ups of previous PFL title challengers vs previous Bellator title challengers.

The announcement comes after PFL in November completed the acquisition of fellow MMA promotion Bellator from Paramount Global to create what it claims will be a “global powerhouse” in the sport.

At the time, PFL said plans were in the works for a PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions ‘mega event’ and it has now been confirmed that this will take place in Riyadh. PFL will also launch a reimagined Bellator product entitled Bellator International Champions Series this year.

Next month’s event will feature Renan Ferreira vs Ryan Bader, Impa Kasanganay vs Johnny Eblen, Magomed Magomedkerimov vs Jason Jackson, and Jesus Pinedo vs Patricio Pitbull.

The event strengthens PFL’s links to Saudi Arabia. In August, PFL announced that the country’s SRJ Sports Investments had acquired a minority equity ownership stake in the promotion.

PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions becomes the latest event confirmed for Riyadh Season. Earlier this week, it was announced that the 26,000-capacity Kingdom Arena will host ‘Knockout Chaos’ on March 8, with the boxing event to be headlined by a fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.
