Bulgarian First League football club, Levski Sofia, has announced the formation of a company dedicated to either the construction of a new stadium or the redevelopment of its existing home, Vivacom Arena – Georgi Asparuhov.
Levski has played at its current home since it opened in 1963 and has been seeking to secure control of the facility currently owned by the Municipality of Sofia. At the end of 2023, Levski management said they would actively work on the stadium topic in the new year.
The club announced yesterday (Thursday) that ‘Stadion Georgi Asparuhov’, an entity full owned by Levski has been formed.
In a statement, Levski said: “The purpose of the newly established organisation is to work actively to improve the overall infrastructure of the club, including the realisation of the most important step related to the development of Levski, namely construction or complete reconstruction of a football stadium meeting the high standards and expectations of supporters.
“Our priority in this direction is, first of all, to carry out all possible legal actions through which our beloved club will receive full rights to invest, manage and develop Stadion Georgi Asparuhov in the long term.
“Currently, our team is actively working on creating the necessary prerequisites for the realisation of the stated goals, for the achievement of which we rely on your support and trust.”
