The NBA has set an all-time record for regular-season total attendance, average attendance, percentage of capacity, and number of sellouts for the second season in a row.

The basketball league posted a total attendance of 22,538,518 for the recently concluded 2023-24 regular season, surpassing the previous record of 22,234,502, which was set last season.

The NBA also posted a record 873 sellouts this season, up from last season’s 791, with 71% of games selling out, up from 63% in 2022-23. Average attendance at NBA games this season was 18,324, up from 18,077 last season, and arenas were filled to an all-time high 98% capacity.

Twelve teams sold out every home game: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets (pictured), Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz.

According to the NBA, fans from more than 150 countries and territories attended regular-season games. In conjunction with the start of the inaugural NBA Cup, the NBA also recorded its highest-ever average attendance for November (18,208).

The records have been announced as the NBA Play-In Tournament begins today (Tuesday) ahead of the start of the Playoffs on Saturday.

Last season’s total attendance figure of 22,234,502 broke the previous record of 22,124,559, which was set during the 2017-18 campaign. Last season also marked the first time that teams averaged more than 18,000 spectators per game.
