Cusack Park in the Irish town of Ennis is set to be renamed Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg as a result of a sponsorship deal between Clare GAA and American medical device company Zimmer Biomet.
The deal sees the 20,100-capacity stadium take on the new name for at least the next three years with an option to extend the partnership for another two years after that.
“The Zimmer Biomet philosophy is a perfect fit with that of Clare GAA, as we are building and fostering the love of Gaelic games in Clare,” said Clare GAA’s head of operations Deirdre Murphy.
“Páirc Chíosóg is our home, there is no venue like it for atmosphere, the proximity of the crowd to the pitch helps create that incredible connection between our teams and supporters. We have had some fantastic days here in recent times and long may that continue.”
The new name is the Gaelic version of Cusack, after County Clare native Micheál Chíosóg who was one of the founders of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in 1884.
He is also tributed at Croke Park with the Cusack Stand and Cusack Park in Westmeath.
An official launch of the partnership is planned for the weekend beginning April 19 when hurlers, footballers, and Camogie players will be in action at the venue.
