Krasnodar stadium shows off video screen technology

The new home stadium of Russian football club Krasnodar opened at the weekend, giving fans a glimpse of innovative video screen technology.

The stadium features a full 360-degree video screen with the capability to light up the facility, running under the roof.

It took three years to construct the facility, which has been developed by designers at the Maxim Rymar studio. The development has been financed by Krasnodar’s billionaire owner, Sergey Galitsky.

Similar video screen technology will also be featured at the Atlanta Falcons NFL American football franchise’s new $1.4bn Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which will open next year. However, the video board will run along the edge of the roof – rather than just about the seats, as is the case at the Krasnodar venue.

The stadium has a capacity of 33,000 and therefore is 2,000 short of the total required to allow it to be considered as a host venue for football’s Fifa World Cup in Russia in two years’ time.
