Salford City unveils stadium revamp plans

Salford City, an English lower-league football club part-owned by Manchester United legends Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt, has unveiled ambitious plans for a new 5,100-capacity stadium.

The five ex-United stars are helping to bankroll the team’s rapid rise up the league ladder, with the club just two divisions below League Two – the fourth tier of football in the country. The club’s journey has become the subject of a regular documentary shown on UK public-service broadcaster the BBC.

The redevelopment plans feature a new all-seat stand alongside the length of the pitch, including executive seating in the centre of the facility. Terraces will be behind the east and west ends of the stadium, with a 600-capacity supporters’ club also included in the plans at the club’s current Moor Lane home.

A small car park is also part of the proposals.

A planning application has not been submitted to the local council yet and the cost of the project has not been disclosed.

The club posted on Twitter: “We are delighted to share the proposed designs for our new stadium at Moor Lane, going into planning imminently!”
