English Championship football club Wigan Athletic has partnered with Centerplate to provide catering services at the DW Stadium.
Centerplate has relationships with more than 300 event venues across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for catering, retail and hospitality services.
The company, whose experience includes design and operations for high-profile professional venues and events such as the NFL American football league’s Super Bowl showpiece and football’s English Premier League, will contribute to the design and construction, as well as new menus and service offerings.
DW Stadium operations manager, Andy Birch, said: “We researched several different companies and we feel that Centerplate’s experience and vision will play a critical role in bringing about the changes we would like to see at the DW.
“Such changes cannot happen overnight, this will be an evolution as we seek to modernise the provision of our concourse services over the coming months.”
Adrian Dishington, chief operating officer of Centerplate’s UK division, said: “We are extremely excited to partner with the club to bring to life its vision for matchday experiences through new design, menus and service offerings.”
Wigan Athletic chief executive, Jonathan Jackson, added: “We listened to our supporters as part of the process of choosing new caterers. It was clear that a change was required in terms of both the choices offered and the presentation of the kiosks on the concourses at the DW Stadium.

We must stress that we remain committed to providing value for money for our supporters on match day and look forward to working with Centerplate.”
DW Stadium has a capacity of 25,138. The club currently sits second from the bottom of the second-tier Championship, with only Rotherham below.
