The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has confirmed that arenas will be able to open their doors to all fans once again from July 31, albeit with a number of restrictions in place.
According to Chinese state news service Xinhua, a limited number of spectators – including medical staff, teachers and police officers – will be allowed to watch CBA league games from July 26.
However, the venues will be able to open to the general public for the start of the playoffs five days later.
Fans will be able to purchase a maximum of one ticket each through an online system, rather than in person, and spectators will need to show identification to enter the arenas.
Only people over the age of 12 who have tested negative for Covid-19 within the past 48 hours will be allowed into the venues, with further body temperature checks taking place before the turnstiles.
The facilities themselves will have restricted capacities, with fans required to sit at least one metre away from anyone else whilst wearing face masks for the duration of their visit.
The CBA was the country’s first major sports league to return to action following the Covid-19 outbreak on June 20.
